Travel Leh Ladakh with me & my family – Photo Blog

This time little different style, sharing my Leh Ladakh family trip experience via images.

Note: This post will take some time to load all 85 images.

So Leh trip started on 29th May 2019.

Lot of excitement 🙂 , as my maternal grandfather (Nana Ji) going with us.

For my Nana Ji, this was a special journey as he was going to travel via Airplane first time.

Finally, time to say goodbye to Delhi.

Nana Ji enjoying every moment of flight, checking all the instructions, seats and asking lot of curiosity question “what is this.. that..”

We all enjoyed that flight because it shows us all terrain like plain land, forest mountain, snow-covered peaks and in end desert mountains.

Finally, we reached Leh airport. From 40 degree Celsius to 10 degree Celsius.

Trip was pre-planned so taxi driver “Tashi” bahiya waiting outside for us (Tashi bahiya number +91 9419999103).

From Leh airport, we went to our guesthouse (which was pre-booked). Guest house name is ZalTalk.

Staying there was a best choice which we did. Owner lady “Stanzin” didi is very kind (Stanzin didi number +91 9469877011).

Leh is at height of 3500 m from sea level, so first 48 hours for us was acclimatization. So after getting room we had lunch and took rest.

During evening time we visited nearby Leh market for some local shopping and also to explore city.

We had dinner in guest house itself and also at that time we witness real cold of Leh.

Next day, beautiful Leh morning.

We had a very memorable “aloo ka paratha” breakfast.

After breakfast, we are ready to explore Leh city.

First destination was a confluence of Indus and Zanskar river.

After river confluence, we visited very popular “Gurudwara Shri Pathar Sahib” and “magnetic hill” point.

After lunch at Gurudwara, we visited “Army Hall of Fame museum“.

Now, we are done with sightseeing and decided to go back guest house. On that day we had egg curry as dinner.

Next day (31st May), was very big day for us because we had to cross Khardungla pass (which is at height of 5,359 m) and visit Nubra valley. Total 120 km and 6 hours of travel time.

Weather was very good. After watching snow we not able to stop our excitement.

Finally, we reached very famous Khardungla pass

After 15 minutes stay at Khardungla pass, we went ahead and continue our journey to Nubra valley. For lunch, we found a surprising buffet restaurant in mid of nowhere.

During this long road trip, we found a waterfall, which was enough to recharge our batteries.

Finally, 6 hour long road trip completed and we reached to our next stay, Ecotel garden guest house in Diskit, Nubra valley (number +91 9419234350).

We took some rest and also had refreshing evening tea with owner’s mother.

In evening we went to see very famous sand dunes in Hunder, Nubra valley.

Doing camel ride is must at Hunder. After all such chance not come daily.

After experiencing camel ride, we went to see Diskit monastery.

And now we end our tiring day with a beautiful sunset.

Next day (1st June), we started again early. Had breakfast and started journey for another destination (230 km).

Spotted river and very cute marmot during our road journey.

On that day our goal is to reach very famous Pangong lake (3 idiots movie shooting happen here).

After reaching Pangong lake, we booked nearby normal accommodation for stay.

At Pangong lake enjoyed like a kid who just got toys to play.

Seriously it is a place built for movies, I mean picture perfect place and we enjoyed it as well. After a lot of photo shoot, we went for dinner and called our day off.

This is called morning, sun just appearing from mountains.

A perfect place for breakfast.

On 2nd June, sadly we have to say goodbye to Pangong lake and go back to normal place, I mean Leh city.

Exciting thing was, going back to Leh route was different. So we got a chance to visit another high pass called Chang La

After 5 hours bumpy road journey we reached Leh, during return journey we also visited Hemis, Thiksey Monastery and Shey Palace.

Day ended with dinner in same Leh guest house.

Next day (3rd June) was again local sightseeing, we visited shanti stupa and Leh Palace.

So called “tasty” food !!

Next day (4th June), it’s time to say bye to Leh, Stanzin didi and Tashi bahiya !!

Again flight time, going from 10 degree to 40 degree Celsius (I mean Leh to Delhi).

And back to Delhi !!!!!

Final thoughts !!

During return time, one local person ask me, “what will you remember in your entire Leh Ladakh trip?”

and I said…

It is possible that I will forget these places and roads.

But for my entire life

I will remember Leh people – Stanzin didi hospitality, Tashi bahi company and that 70 year old lady who said “stay more day in our home, I will cook food for you”. I will also remember moments which I spent here in Leh with my family & Nana Ji !!!
